Carl Neal
Carl Neal was born on August 27, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio, to Butler and Gussie Neal. He peacefully passed away on February 19, 2025, at the Toledo Hospice on Detroit Avenue at the age of 67. Carl was the seventh of eleven children. He attended Libbey High School, where he played football and ran track, graduating in 1976. Throughout his life, he worked various jobs, always demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to help others. A passionate musician, Carl was a bass drummer in the Hyatt Allen Post 538 Marching Band, located at Junction and Belmont, where he found joy and camaraderie through music. Carl married Linda Thompson, and together they built a family, welcoming two children. Linda preceded him in death, but the love they shared lives on through their children and loved ones.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Butler and Gussie Neal; one sister; five brothers; a stepdaughter, Roxanne Thompson; and two grandchildren. Carl leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his children, Stephanie Boyd, Carl Jr., and Carla Neal; his sisters, Hazel Neal Bester and Cynthia Mason; his brothers, Anthony and Barry Neal; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Carl’s life was a testament to resilience, family, and passion. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
